Happy September!
I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. We enjoyed the cool weather aboard Betsy cruising around Cape Lookout and other various anchorages. With a NE breeze of over 25 knts, there was 3-4ft chop in the bite. It was still nice to be out and see some beautiful sunsets and sunrises, watch the dolphins play and catch up on some needed boat maintenance. Isn’t that how the saying goes, cruising is nothing more than fixing your boat in exotic places. That’s fine with me, I love just being there. So now somewhat rejuvenated, its time to get back to work.
Updates.. We spent a long time on the phone with our contractor John Hardy on Friday. I’ve been bugging him about the delay in starting the road construction. He says his company is finishing up another project and will start to bring the equipment down to Port Vandemere over the next week. I was just down there today, still no equipment, but maybe tomorrow they’ll bring something over.
Meanwhile, so I’m not pacing the floors, I’ve been working with the architect on our clubhouse. I’ve gotten a preliminary rendering and have starting making some improvements. We’re doing French Doors instead of windows on the first floor and covered screed in porches all around. So the space will be airy and open to enjoy all the nice breezes. Adding to the kitchen, adding laundry facilities and a nice fireplace. Also adding uncovered decking that stair- steps down to the pool area in the back and a grilling area and cabana.Tomorrow I’ll take another drive down to Port Vandemere to see if my equipment has arrived. We’re in the final stretch now, so check back in a few days for more reports on the beginnings of our construction! FYI, those who want tickets to the boat show, I confirmed that the deadline is the 21st of this month. So call Thomas and I’ll have those waiting for you at will call.
Meeka II was spotted bobbing on the hook at Lookout. Yes, we have our own real pirate. Capt. Sinbad is a legend in these waters. Aye Mattie..
