Sound Marine docks

Sound Marine Dock This is along the lines of what we will have. I haven’t picked out the decking yet. But here are some examples:

Ipe Decking

This decking on the top pictures is Ipe, hardwood that will last almost forever the lower is Pine, I’m not too crazy about it.

I’ve lot a few things to give updates on.Construction: yes we finally got some bids back. The agreement has been signed for Vandemere Creek Drive with John Hardy Construction Company. I spoke with our engineer this morning and he’s estimating 2 to 3 weeks before they can get going.  This will start at the entrance with Griggs road  work its way back to Shell Castle Lane.. Utility lines will follow.  The contractor is working up a time line so I’ll have that posted shortly.
Marina:
We had a very educational visit with the folks at Sound Marine on Monday.  Plus the fact that I got to have a sushi lunch in Wilmington, which always boosts morale. We were amazed at the engineering and quality construction of the dock systems. We are working on a semi-custom design for Port Vandemere Yacht Club and should have the final plans from Kelly  in another week or so. I have to say they are very busy. When you build a quality product news gets out.  Hey, we still have about 8 months to go before the first dock is put into place so that should work out fine with their time table.  I think everyone will be impressed with the final product.  To throw some names out, they are building the docks for River Dunes, and did the ones for Morehead City Yacht Basin, if ever you want to take a test stroll on their docks.I would like to welcome Glenn and Gail Fischer to our neighborhood. They have decided to call lot 22 their new home. Welcome!I would love to post more, but its ‘to the grindstone’ for me.  Back to editing covenants, reviewing plans and contracts, crunching numbers, and drinking coffee; I’m ready to put Port Vandemere on the map!
