New Neighbor, Clubhouse Design

I also want to welcome another new Port Vandemere neighbor. James Duncan and family, from Scotia NY near the beautiful Adirondacks, welcome to Vandemere NC.
On to business, we met this week with Bill from Coastal Design Center, an architecture firm in New Bern, to put together the plans for the clubhouse and pool area. He has done several beautiful structures in town and works with one the best builders in the area.In a few weeks I should have preliminary sketches to post! Some points we discussed: outdoor showers on the ground floor for sandy feet or just to cool off, wide porches on the first floor and sliding doors instead of windows allowing for more flow, ground floor will open to the copula above and the second floor loft will be a library with lots of windows, gas fire place and comfy chairs for reading and playing games, men’s and women’s lounges, laundry, and kitchen on 1st floor, as well as storage and a dockmaster’s office.I hate that I haven’t taken any photos in the last week. I promise more next week. My next project is to photograph the small creeks (tributaries, canals) that go into the property.
