Happy St. Patrick’s Day
I’ve been a bit tardy with my writing over the last 10 days. The weather has been so perfect outside that after a long day of bookeeping, meetings, and phone calls I’ve decided to spend my evenings in the garden doing some spring cleaning. I’m heading out to the job site this evening and will post new photos tomorrow.
Construction:Our roads are coming along nicely. We had another roll test done on the now finished Royal Shoal Lane and a portion of Shell Castle Lane. Hardy Construction is starting on the back portion of Shell Castle but the going is a little slower due to the amount of organic soils along newer portion of the existing road bed in front of lots 18-23. They have to remove all of the soils that are less stable and replace with sand. Then the road can be compacted and graveled. Over the next few weeks they’ll be finishing this process and we’ll have a completed road right out to the marina site.
Marina: Roger, our Consultant has finished wiriting the Environmental Assessment but has had to go back to our engineers, again, to correct some things. Keep your fingers crossed that they get him what he needs this time or I’m going to start camping out in their offices.
Neighbors:We have a new neighbor! Welcome to Don and Mary Prowant of Mechanicsburg, PA. They have decided to call lot 40 their new home. Thanks for the nice note you mailed to us and I look forward to seeing you next time you’re in town.
We’ve had a big weekend in town. On Saturdays we now have a farmers market at the harbor front and its been a great sucess. This weekend we had not only our own local backyard farmers, but a few nurseries from New Bern sellining Herbs. Saturday afternoon we had a down east Chowder cook off, Yum, A 5k race, to run off the chowder and a band at the now open Tiki Bar.
Looks like things are back in the swing of it for spring. It was in the news paper this week that Vandemere is getting town-wide wireless internet. Now all Vandemere needs is a coffee shop and we’ll be in business.
